Hello, my name is Harrison Shapiro. I have been teaching at Stamford Charter School for Excellence since the fall of 2015. Before that, I taught part-time in the Darien Public Schools during the 2014-15 school year. Prior to teaching, I went to Central Connecticut State University where I earned my Bachelors degree in Physical Education with a cross-endorsement in Health Education. I recently finished my Master's Degree with Western Connecticut State University where I got a degree in Special Education.
Exercise and good nutrition has always been an important topic to me during my adult life. Throughout my life, managing my weight has always been a challenge for me, and it is something that I work hard on. I have had experiences participating in various sports such as; weightlifting, swimming, running, baseball, basketball, and lifestyle changes that includes; Weight Watchers. I believe that if I can teach students, the importance of consistent exercise and good nutrition they will be able to make good decisions for themselves as they become health-conscious adults.
